Whether your exercise of choice is hot yoga, pilates, or cardio, every workout necessitates a hairstyle that works hard to keep hair off the face. A top knot is excellent in its utilitarian ease, but like with physical activity, it doesn’t hurt to break from routine and try something new every once in a while.
Short hair or long, Regional Creative Director, Stephen Jaime, has a few ideas on ways to easily style your hair. Read on for different styles to try.
For those with long hair, Jaime suggests a creative spin on a classic ponytail— the quickest way to pull hair out of the face. After securing hair in a pony, for a twist, braid loose hair and secure at the ends, or take it a step further and wrap the braid around the base to create a textured bun. Secure with bobby pins or a hair tie.
French or Dutch braids offer another fresh way to secure hair for the gym. Braids stay in place, thanks to added texture, and make it easy to get every single hair out of the face. If you prefer no part, create a French braid down the center. If you’re partial to parting, create braids on each side of your natural part. Either braid hair until you reach the ends, or tie the braids once you’ve woven everything on the scalp.
Braids are for short or bobbed hair, too. Just end the braid once you’ve reached the crown of the head, and leave the underneath portion out.
For hair cropped shorter than bob-length, accessories are always an ally. Think headbands or clips to help secure the fringe away from your face.
